In the distance, the sea breathes; hidden from our gaze, it exists, eternal and far away, so often beyond our reach, yet never outside of us.
This piece brings that breath, that movement, into the city and into our gaze, drawing us closer to the ocean’s intangibility. It brings into us and into these places that which lies beyond them.

By installing a floating device – designed by CO.TWO specifically for this purpose and equipped with multiple sensors and transmitters – in the waters off Cabedelo, and by utilising the live data collected by this device and received anywhere in the world, we are able, through a large-scale, immersive digital visualisation, to immerse ourselves in this ocean that breathes from afar.
This is a piece that explores the boundary between poetry and the digital world, using real-time data and algorithmic beauty to make the invisible visible, transforming the intangible into beauty and turning the sea into a portable object of poetry.
